Technology: Multiple BSSID Support

Each Bandspeed AirMaestro Access Point can support offering 16 different wireless services.  This feature allows an AirMaestro network to offer wireless services with different SSIDs (wireless names), different encryption standards, different authentication standards, and different VLANs.

Most Access Points only support one BSSID, allowing only one wireless service to be offered to users.  The ability to deploy up to 16 different BSSIDs per AirMaestro Access Point allows easy deployment of guest services, multi-company dwellings, private and public networks, etc.  With the ability to VLAN tag any wireless BSSID, wireless BSSIDs can be isolated from one another providing privacy and security for each wireless BSSID.

In a Bandspeed AirMaestro cluster, a wireless BSSID (wireless service) can be deployed across one, multiple, or all AirMaestro Access Points in the cluster.

This screenshot shows a wireless service (BSSID) being deployed across two different APs but only on their 2.4GHz 11b/g radios.

The WLAN Management Console provides intuitive wizards that make the deployment of wireless BSSIDs (services) very easy and fast.

At any time, wireless services (BSSIDs) can be edited and/or deleted in a matter of seconds, even across up to 25 AirMaestro Access Points in the cluster.  The WLAN Management Console’s ‘Services tab shows a detailed list of all services (BSSIDs) in the cluster, which APs the wireless services (BSSIDs) are deployed on, what the encryption level is, etc.

This screenshot shows 5 different BSSIDs being offered by a cluster, all on separate VLANs.
