Technology: Automated Configuration
The unique architecture and the third radio in all Bandspeed AirMaestro Access Points allows the APs to automate deployment and continually change their configurations to provide best coverage, performance, and reliability.
When a Bandspeed AirMaestro Access Point turns on, it performs an automatic configuration process in which is scans the WLAN environment and using a comprehensive algorithm, selects the best available channel. If there are other AirMaestro Access Points in the environment, then the cluster will collaborate to select the best channels for each AirMaestro Access Point as well as reduce their transmit power to reduce co-interference and provide maximum performance. If an AP in the cluster were to be powered off or removed, the cluster would automatically and immediately re-grow their transmit power to cover the area no longer serviced by that Access Point.
Unlike competing solutions that scan only at powerup or scan on a daily schedule, the AirMaestro Access Points’ third radios continually scan the environment and adapt the Access Point configurations immediately. The constant scanning is done without disrupting the wireless service being offered on the other two APs.

In this screenshot, 4 AirMaestro Access Points have collaborated and automatically configured themselves for best performance and interference avoidance. |
