Bandspeed AirMaestro software includes firmware on the AirMaestro IC, access point software and PC-based management software that work in concert to provide Wi-Fi management that is both affordable and easy to sustain. The AirMaestro software can operate under manual control or automatically within policy-based parameters to monitor, report and manage all aspects of the Wi-Fi network including radio-frequency (RF), WLAN, and security conditions.

Based on knowledge ascertained by scanning the environment for each AP across the network, AirMaestro software performs automatic and collaborative configuration of multiple APs for optional coverage and performance. AirMaestro performs interference avoidance through RF monitoring, channel selection and transmit power control. AirMaestro will sense new sources of interference or the failure of deployed APs and will automatically make the necessary adjustment to keep the WLAN network running smoothly.

A management console allows access to information about the WLAN network conditions via any in-network access point. Rogue APs can be detected, identified and mitigated. Spatial maps provide remote visibility of the RF environment, including interferers or rogues, around any access point. A built-in spectrum analyzer allows detailed analysis of interference sources.

To support real-time applications like voice over the WLAN AirMaestro software delivers critical encryption, authentication, load balancing and guest services while insuring 802.11e/WMM Quality of Service, and nearly instantaneous fast roaming.
